The State Key Laboratory for Management and Control of Complex Systems is housed in the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Science (CASIA). It was founded in 1991 and was officially opened to the public in 1994.

The laboratory has 82 staff members, 75 of them possess doctorate degrees and more than 85% of them are under 45 years old.

The State Key Laboratory for Management and Control of Complex Systems focuses on major research directions in complex systems and intelligent science, including analysis, modeling, optimization, and management of complex systems that exist in engineering, society, economy and national defense. The goal of the laboratory is to become an internationally known organization for scientific research, technical innovation and talents cultivation.
